Is the charge control of lithium-ion battery important?
Overcharge mainly refers to that the battery continues to charge when it is fully charged. Such practices may lead to the increase of internal pressure, deformation and leakage of the battery, and the performance of the battery will also be significantly reduced and damaged.
There are two methods for overcharging:
(1) The charging has reached the end of its term, and the current is changed to half of the normal charging rate to continue charging. When the voltage and electrohydraulic weight reach the maximum value, continue to observe the voltage and specific gravity of the battery every half an hour for four times. If there is no change for many times, it shall not be changed until the pole plate gasses violently;
(2) After charging to the end, stop charging for one hour, and then use half of the normal charging rate to charge, and then stop charging for one hour after gassing. Repeat this for two or three times, until the voltage and weight have no change, and then charge again until the gas is violently gassed.
In addition to the above periodic overcharging, the battery must be overcharged under the following conditions.
1. The discharge voltage is below the specified final voltage;
2. The battery has not been charged for a long time after discharge;
3. After abnormal high current discharge, or not fully charged for many times;
4. The electrode plate is in poor condition or impurities are mixed in the electrolyte;
5. Not used for a long time;
6. After deep discharge of small current and long time cycle (i.e. discharge exceeding rated capacity);
7. Semi-float charging mode power supply exceeds the specified period.
